Favorite Spices/Seasonings

Favorite Spices/Seasonings Post Feature Picture

Different recipes and styles of food, calls for different spices to be ingrained into the flavor of your masterpiece in the kitchen. So what is a spice that you usually always go to no matter what? Well, I’ll discuss my favorite Spices/Seasonings to use in my masterpieces.

To start: my preferred spice brand is “Spice Islands“.

I love to use Garlic Powder and Onion Powder on most meats. I usually love to cook chicken, so I may put those seasonings on first before any others. The two combined are usually a good duo.

Italian Herbs Seasoning is probably my favorite to always use. The Italian Herbs Seasoning contains several herbs in one and is always a good go-to seasoning for me. I use Oregano and Basil in most Soups, Hot Chocolate, and Chili. Yes, you read that right!!! Hot Chocolate!!! When you are feeling a little under the weather, Basil, Oregano, Turmeric, and Ginger along with many other ingredients creates a mean Hot Chocolate to rid away that sickness. I use Parsley a lot as a topper on a lot of dishes such as Pasta dishes, Chili, and even Chicken.

Greek Seasoning is a good second place for me. I love the flavor that it brings to the table. I use it in a variety of dishes.

Salt-Free Roasted Garlic Seasoning is a solid third place. I usually have some sort of Garlic ingredient in most dishes. This seasoning is also salt-free which makes it better for our household.

I prefer Sea Salt over any other salts. However, due to our diet preference, we usually eat foods and drink liquids with minimal to no Sodium or Sugar. Having little to no Sodium allows us to use Sea Salt in the amount to our preference without having to worry whether it’s too much or not.

I prefer to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil when cooking, especially with Chicken. Personally, I find it more subtle to cook with than other types of oil. I tend to have more control over the oil splatter that occurs when cooking.

I use Canola Oil when cooking with Pasta. Canola Oil along with a dash of Sea Salt and Butter, helps the pasta to not stick to each other. It also brings more flavor to the dish, but make sure to drain all liquid as much as possible; otherwise, it will be runny, oily Pasta. YUCK!!!

When cooking Pasta Sauce, I usually always add Basil and Minced Garlic. It helps to bring more flavor to the Sauce. Sometimes as a substitute, I will use Italian Seasoning.

There are other Spices/Seasonings that I use as well depending on the dish or flavor that I’m trying to accomplish. The ones mentioned are only my favorite go-to Spices/Seasonings.

Chicago Style Steak Seasoning and Chia Seeds are becoming a normal addition to certain dishes.

I will update this article accordingly as the Spice/Seasoning arsenal expands.
