The Bible Is A GPS

The Bible Is A GPS Post Feature Picture

In today’s times, nearly all of us have some sort of way to travel with directions using either a physical map or a form of GPS. Long ago, people used the stars, moon, and sun to determine their general direction of travel. Some even used the direction of wind and ocean currents. A GPS system was designed to be a standalone object that was to replace physical maps.

Today, A GPS system can be in a computer, tablet, or a phone. We rely on a GPS to direct us towards our destination of choice. With our advanced technological abilities, the GPS can even inform us of several factors that may come into play during our trip. It can tell us what the rules and warnings of the road are such as speed limits, one way roads, do not enter roads, speed traps, etc. It can tell us of upcoming hazards on the road and possible detours to take due to factors such as construction work, car collisions, flooded roads, closed roads, etc.

Did You Know ?

The Bible is similar to that of a GPS.

Joshua 1:7-8 “...observe carefully the entire Law.... Do not deviate from it either to the right or to the left, so that you may act wisely wherever you go. This book of the Law should not depart from your mouth, and you must read it in an undertone day and night,...; for then your way will be successful and then you will act wisely.

The Bible can warn us of potential hazards and wrong turns and still get us to our destination of everlasting life. Sometimes we may feel the need to deviate from the GPS’ recommended path due to our understanding of what is a shortcut. Sometimes those shortcuts can lead you down a path that you wish you never had taken. It’s those instances that we may feel regret of not trusting the GPS’ advice. We made a choice and there’s no ‘U-Turn’ allowed. Now, we have to face the consequence of our decision. We can find our way back to the original path. However, it may take time for the GPS to reroute you back to the safety of the original route. Again, you would actually have take its advice for it to work properly.

Deviation from the original path is a deviation from the original purpose of the route. An original purpose meant to provide a path from point A to point B with appropriate filters. Filters to help eliminate certain unwanted criteria. The Bible provides you with appropriate filters such as commandments and principles to follow and input into your life to avoid the unwanted wicked world practices. Those rules of the road in the Bible pave the way from where you are in life to an everlasting Utopian world. A world that was the original purpose of God’s creation.

Bible P.O.V.

Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in Jehovah with all your heart, And do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, And he will make your paths straight.

The Bible declares a plethora of signs and dangers to be aware of. Such things can be found throughout Chapter 21 of Luke, Chapter 24 of Matthew, Chapter 3 of 2 Timothy, and many more in the Bible. We see many of those signs and dangers in today’s world. The entire Bible is full of rules for the road in which we have to follow if we want to make it to our destination of everlasting life.

Isaiah 48:18 “If only you would pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.

If we follow God’s word, the Bible, and adhere to the rules of the road, we can be rest assured that we will make it to our destination safe and sound.

Matthew 7:13-14 “Go in through the narrow gate, because broad is the gate and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are finding it.

Conclusion

The Bible is a GPS. Therefore, use it, listen to it, adhere to it, study it, and most importantly follow it. By doing so, it will lead you onto the cramped road towards the narrow gate of everlasting life that very few are finding.
